TLDR Microneedles show promise for improving hair regrowth in alopecia.
This review discusses the potential of microneedles (MNs) as a transdermal drug delivery system for treating alopecia, highlighting their ability to efficiently deliver therapeutic agents directly to hair follicles. It covers the advancements in MN-mediated treatments over the past five years, including the delivery of chemical drugs, natural compounds, biologics, nanomedicines, stem cells, and low-level laser therapy (LLLT). The review also notes a gap between basic research and clinical trials in this area. Overall, it provides insights and future perspectives on developing MN-integrated therapies to improve hair regrowth efficacy in alopecia management.
