TLDR The green-light LED microneedle patch effectively promotes hair growth.
The study on 35 male C57BL/6 mice evaluated the efficacy of a novel LED microneedle patch for hair growth. Mice were exposed to red, green, and blue light at 0.2 J/cm² daily for 28 days, with and without the microneedle patch. Significant hair growth was observed, especially with green light, and the microneedle patch enhanced both the speed and extent of hair growth in all light groups. Histopathological analysis showed increased hair follicles, collagen, angiogenesis, and cell infiltration, particularly with the green-light LED microneedle patch. The study concluded that the green-light LED microneedle patch effectively promotes hair growth and could provide new treatment options for androgenetic alopecia, with no serious adverse effects noted.

Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.

The user is experiencing sudden hair loss and is considering micro-needling, low-level light therapy, iron supplements, folihair, and Omega 3. They are hesitant to start finasteride, suspecting the hair loss might be due to telogen effluvium from a past COVID-19 infection.

Microneedling for hair restoration involves daily use of a 0.3 mm device and weekly use of a 0.5 mm device. Combining microneedling with Minoxidil can enhance hair growth.
