TLDR Low-level laser treatment helps mice grow hair by increasing certain protein levels linked to hair growth.
The 2017 study demonstrated that low-level laser treatment (LLLT) promoted hair regrowth in C3H/HeJ mice by triggering the transition from the resting phase to the growth phase of hair follicles, as evidenced by earlier pigmentation changes and significantly longer hair follicles in the LLLT group compared to the control group. The treatment also significantly increased the expression of Wnt10b and β-catenin, proteins crucial to the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway associated with hair growth. These findings suggest LLLT as a potential effective method for hair regrowth, although the exact mechanisms require further exploration.
