TLDR Hyaluronic acid microneedles with herbal extracts may help regrow hair.
The study explores the use of hyaluronic acid microneedles (PO-ex MN) loaded with Platycladus orientalis leaf extract as a novel intradermal delivery system for hair regeneration, specifically targeting androgenic alopecia. The microneedles, made from a double cross-linked HAMA/HA hydrogel, are designed to penetrate the stratum corneum and deliver the extract into the dermis effectively. The extract helps improve the environment for hair follicle cell proliferation by removing reactive oxygen free radicals, while the mechanical stimulation from the microneedles activates the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, promoting hair follicle growth. This approach presents a promising therapeutic strategy for treating androgenic alopecia.
