TLDR Water extract of Cacumen Platycladi helps hair growth by activating specific cell pathways.
The study found that water extract of Cacumen Platycladi (WECP) promotes hair growth by activating the Akt/GSK3β/β-catenin signaling pathway, which enhances dermal papilla cell (DPC) proliferation and migration, and accelerates the DPC cell cycle. In vivo experiments with mice showed significant hair growth and hair follicle reconstruction, comparable to finasteride. The molecular mechanism involves increased β-catenin accumulation and upregulation of growth factors like LEF1, VEGF, and IGF1. The results suggest that WECP could be a potential botanical treatment for hair loss.
