TLDR Microneedles with traditional Chinese medicine can help regrow hair in androgenic alopecia.
Researchers developed composite double-layer microneedles (MNs) loaded with Polygonum multiflorum extract to treat androgenic alopecia (AGA). These MNs, made using a polydimethylsiloxane mold, showed good mechanical properties and gradual drug release. In animal experiments, the MNs promoted earlier pigmentation and hair regrowth, with histological analysis revealing increased number and diameter of hair follicles. The study suggests that these MNs are a promising strategy for AGA treatment by effectively enhancing hair regeneration.
