TLDR Combining minoxidil and fibroblast growth factor is more effective for treating male hair loss than using either alone.
The study investigated the safety and efficacy of topical minoxidil, nano-microneedle-assisted fibroblast growth factor (FGF), and their combination in treating male androgenetic alopecia (MAA) in 40 Chinese male patients over 16 weeks. Results showed significant increases in hair density, hair diameter, and follicular unit density in groups treated with minoxidil, FGF, or both, with the combination therapy yielding the most notable improvements. No serious adverse effects were reported, and the treatment was well tolerated. The findings suggested that the combination therapy is superior to monotherapies, indicating its potential as a more effective treatment for MAA. Further research is needed to assess long-term efficacy and safety.
