TLDR Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy significantly increases hair density in people with Androgenic Alopecia, and works better with more treatments per month and in younger patients.
The meta-analysis, which analyzed 15 clinical trials, found that Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy significantly increased hair density in patients with Androgenic Alopecia (AGA) from 141.9 ± 108.2 to 177.5 ± 129.7 hairs/cm2 (p = 0.0004). The study also discovered a positive correlation between the number of PRP treatments per month and the percentage change in hair density (r = 0.5, p = 0.03), and a negative correlation between the mean age of the treatment group and the percentage change in hair density (r = -0.56, p = 0.016). The conclusion was that PRP therapy is an effective treatment for AGA in both males and females, provided the patients are carefully selected.
