TLDR PRP treatment may stimulate hair growth by promoting blood vessel formation, increasing growth factors, and preventing cell death.
This document presents a mechanistic model for the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The model suggests that PRP treatment can stimulate hair growth by promoting angiogenesis, increasing the expression of growth factors, and inhibiting apoptosis. The authors suggest that PRP therapy could be a potential therapy for AGA, and cite several studies that support its effectiveness. Overall, the use of autologous growth factors to stimulate innate pathways is an innovative approach to treating AGA.
