TLDR Minoxidil and ATRA together boost hair growth more effectively than minoxidil alone.
A study from 16 years ago found that combining minoxidil and all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) increased hair growth in vitro more than minoxidil alone. The combination also increased the expression of proteins related to hair growth, suggesting it could be a promising treatment for hair loss. The combination treatment enhanced hair growth more efficiently than minoxidil alone by increasing the proliferation of human dermal papilla cells and prolonging the anagen stage of hair growth. The study suggests that the combination of minoxidil and ATRA could be a potential treatment for hair loss.

community DLQ01: A Better "Minoxidil" PGF2a synthetic analogue.

      in Research/Science  3 upvotes 2 weeks ago
DLQ01, a prostaglandin F2α analog, shows promise for hair growth by directly stimulating PGE2/PGF receptors without needing conversion, and can be combined with minoxidil and retinoids like tretinoin for enhanced effectiveness. Minoxidil's efficacy may be reduced by COX-1 inhibitors, but using prostaglandin analogs like Latanoprost or Bimatoprost can help maintain its effectiveness.

A study that outlines the full model for androgenic alopecia (AGA) which links DHT to cellular senescence in dermal papilla cells, and suggests black chokeberry as a source of cyanidin 3-O-arabinoside polyphenol with potential anti-oxidant properties that could reverse this process. The post encourages reaching out to experts in anti-aging and longevity to research treatments involving the polyphenol.

The user is exploring options including topical solutions with minoxidil, retinoic acid, and hydrocortisone, and plans to start microneedling.

community Haircafe - TOPICAL minoxidil is an anti aging drug

in Minoxidil  241 upvotes 2 months ago
Topical minoxidil may cause skin aging effects like wrinkles and dark circles, possibly due to its alcohol content, while oral finasteride is reported to make users look younger. Switching to oral minoxidil or using moisturizers might help reduce these skin issues.
