    The study found that androgens inhibit hair follicle stem cell differentiation through cross-talk between Wnt/β-catenin and androgen signaling in dermal papilla cells from patients with androgenetic alopecia. This is due to the deregulation of secreted factors involved in normal hair follicle stem cell differentiation via the inhibition of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. The study suggests that inhibiting glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) may be a potential therapeutic target for treating androgenetic alopecia.
