TLDR A new treatment using microneedles with black phosphorus and laser helps regrow hair effectively and safely.
The study introduces a novel treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) using black phosphorus nanosheets encapsulated in microneedles (BP-BA@MNs) combined with 635 nm laser irradiation. This system enhances the delivery and efficacy of baicalin (BA) by leveraging the photothermal effect of black phosphorus, which improves drug penetration and stimulates hair follicle circulation. In vitro and in vivo tests, including a testosterone-induced AGA mouse model, demonstrated significant hair regrowth and improved gene expression related to hair growth. The BP-BA@MNs system showed good biocompatibility and biosafety, offering a promising multifunctional therapy for AGA by combining BA chemotherapy, BP-mediated photothermal therapy, and microneedle delivery.
