TLDR Platycladus orientalis essential oil and ethanol extracts can be effective natural antioxidants and antibacterial agents.
The study analyzed the chemical composition, antioxidant properties, and antibacterial activities of various extracts and essential oil from Platycladus orientalis leaves. The essential oil, rich in α-pinene, β-phellandrene, α-cedrol, and β-caryophyllene, showed significant antibacterial activity, particularly against Micrococcus luteus and Staphylococcus aureus. Ethanol extract exhibited the highest antioxidant activity across multiple assays. The findings suggested that P. orientalis essential oil and ethanol extracts could serve as potential natural antioxidants and antimicrobial agents, highlighting their potential for further applications.
