TLDR The new treatment using microneedle patches shows promise for better hair growth in androgenetic alopecia.
The study explores a new treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) using microneedle patches to deliver hypoxic extracellular vesicle-encapsulated selenium nanoparticles (Se-HEVs) and astragalus polysaccharide. This approach targets oxidative stress, insufficient angiogenesis, and inflammation, which are key factors in AGA. In a study involving 36 male KM mice, the Se-HEVs-AMN patches demonstrated superior hair growth compared to Minoxidil, with increased hair follicle activation, reduced inflammation, and enhanced vascularization. The results suggest that this multidimensional strategy holds promising potential for promoting hair growth and treating AGA.
