TLDR Autologous platelet concentrates show promise in esthetic treatments but need more standardized research.
The document reviews the use of autologous platelet concentrates (APCs) in aesthetic medicine, particularly for facial rejuvenation, acne scars, melasma, vitiligo, stretch marks, and androgenetic alopecia (AGA). APCs, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), are shown to enhance collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce wrinkles. Studies indicate that combining APCs with microneedling or laser treatments yields superior results compared to monotherapies. For AGA, PRP and PRF treatments significantly increase hair density and thickness, with PRF showing some advantages. Overall, APCs are effective, safe, and well-tolerated, though standardized protocols and further research are needed to optimize their use.
