TLDR Platelet-rich fibrin helps in healing and rejuvenation but results vary and can take time.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a second-generation autologous platelet concentrate that naturally contains a fibrin clot and does not require an anticoagulant. It contains more concentrated platelets and growth factors than platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and its fibrin clot results in a slow and sustained release of growth factors. PRF has been successful in postprocedural wound healing, hair restoration, skin rejuvenation, and dermal augmentation. However, results from PRF are highly variable and may take several months to become noticeable. Not all patients respond to treatment. Treatments with autologous platelet concentrates are generally safe, with risks including infection, pain, and bleeding. Despite its benefits, the results of PRF can be unpredictable due to various factors.
