TLDR L-PRF may help bone growth and healing, but more research is needed.
The review evaluated the clinical efficacy of leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) in maxillary sinus floor augmentation procedures, analyzing 7 studies. L-PRF, known for its growth factors and cytokines, was used alone or with other materials. Results varied, with some studies showing positive effects on bone regeneration, while others indicated limitations or the need for combination with other graft materials. The review concluded that L-PRF might offer benefits in enhancing bone formation and wound healing, but more high-quality research was needed to confirm its efficacy and understand its mechanisms.
