TLDR Platelet-rich plasma shows potential for hair growth, but more research is needed to determine the best preparation method.
The 2019 study "Platelet-rich Plasma for Hair Growth" explored the potential of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in hair restoration, particularly for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), alopecia areata (AA), and telogen effluvium. The authors found that PRP, a concentration of platelets in plasma with growth factors, showed promise in stimulating hair regeneration. However, due to a lack of standardization in PRP preparation, it was challenging to compare results and determine its clinical efficacy. The study highlighted the need for further randomized placebo-controlled studies with larger sample sizes to better understand PRP's effects on hair regrowth in AGA. The optimal PRP preparation for AGA remained undetermined and required further investigation.
