TLDR PRP injections are a simple, safe, and cost-effective treatment for hair loss.
This review evaluated the efficacy of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for hair regrowth in androgenic alopecia and alopecia areata through two randomized controlled trials and one prospective cohort study. The studies involved adults over 18 with hair loss. In Gentile's 2015 study with 23 patients, a mean increase in hair density of 45.9 hairs per cm² was observed at 3 months post-PRP injection. Ginki's 2014 study with 22 volunteers reported the highest hair density at 4 months. Trink's 2013 study with 45 patients showed that 60% of the PRP group experienced complete remission of alopecia areata. The conclusion was that PRP injections were a simple, safe, and cost-effective treatment for hair loss in these conditions.
