TLDR Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is increasingly used in cosmetic dermatology for hair loss, facial rejuvenation, and after cosmetic procedures, and can be stored for up to 90 days for daily home use.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is increasingly being used in various medical specialties including cosmetic dermatology, where it's used for treatment of androgenic alopecia, facial rejuvenation, and post invasive cosmetic procedures. PRP contains unique organelles such as dense granules, lambda granules, and alpha granules, and its clinical use dates back to the 1970s when it was used for treating platelet deficiency disorders. PRP can be used for aesthetic procedures following current FDA guidelines with approved centrifuges and collection kits. A unique compilation of electrolytes in a physiologic base serum stored at 4°C provides up to 90 days of twice daily autologous personalized PRP for daily home use.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

The conversation is about the effectiveness of finasteride (fin) in preventing hair loss after a hair transplant. Some users have experienced hair thinning and loss after stopping finasteride, while others have had success with finasteride and minoxidil (min) in maintaining their transplanted hair. The general consensus is that finasteride is important for younger patients to prevent further hair loss.

The post and conversation are about a user who made their own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for hair loss treatment at home, using their own blood and a centrifuge. The responses vary, with some users supporting the DIY approach to save money, others expressing concern about the safety and effectiveness of the method, and a few joking about the lengths people will go to combat hair loss.
