TLDR PRP injections significantly increased hair count and density with less pain.
The study described the use of mechanical and controlled platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in the scalps of 23 patients with androgenetic alopecia. The procedure involved preparing autologous not-activated PRP from 55 mL of blood, which was then injected at a depth of 5 mm using a medical injector gun. Each session involved injecting 0.2 mL of PRP per cm² of the scalp. The results indicated a significant increase in hair count and density after three sessions, with reduced pain compared to manual injection methods. No local or systemic anesthesia was used.
