TLDR Combining 5% minoxidil with platelet-rich plasma is more effective for hair loss than minoxidil alone.
The study compared the efficacy of 5% minoxidil alone versus 5% minoxidil combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 50 patients. Each patient's scalp was divided to test minoxidil on one side and the combination treatment on the other over 6 months. Results showed that the combination treatment had a better response, with 59% of patients experiencing a good response compared to 41% with minoxidil alone. The study concluded that the combination of 5% minoxidil and intradermal PRP is a simple, safe, and effective treatment for AGA, especially for those who respond poorly to conventional therapy.
