Topical Minoxidil in Early Male Pattern Baldness

The study found that topical minoxidil is effective in promoting hair growth in male pattern baldness. Both the 2% and 3% topical minoxidil groups showed a significant increase in terminal hair count over the placebo group during the initial 4 study months. There was an accelerated increase in terminal hair count on crossover to active drug, so that at 12 months there was no significant difference between the crossover, 2%, or 3% topical minoxidil groups. The study concluded that topical minoxidil does stimulate hair growth in male pattern baldness.
