TLDR These drugs cause hair growth without affecting testosterone or adrenal hormones.
The study found that the drugs diazoxide, phenytoin, and minoxidil do not stimulate testosterone secretion or adrenal androgen secretion, suggesting that the hypertrichosis induced by these drugs may be accomplished by a non-androgenic mechanism. However, the reason why the three drugs occasionally stimulate profuse hair growth is not clear.
