Glossary Adrenal Androgens

hormones from adrenal glands affecting hair growth and skin

Adrenal androgens are hormones produced by the adrenal glands, which are located on top of the kidneys. These hormones, including dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione, play a role in the development of secondary sexual characteristics and can influence hair growth and skin health. While they are weaker than testosterone, they can be converted into more potent androgens or estrogens in the body.
