TLDR Platelet-rich plasma therapy works better than minoxidil for hair loss treatment in the tested group.
The study titled "A Randomized Control Trial Comparing the Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma and 5% Topical Minoxidil for the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia" involved 72 patients suffering from Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA), a common cause of hair loss in men. The patients were treated either with Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or 5% topical minoxidil for 12 weeks. The results showed a 91.7% negative hair pull rate in the PRP treatment group, significantly higher than the 69.4% in the minoxidil-treated group. This suggests that PRP therapy is more effective than minoxidil in treating AGA, particularly in the studied Pakistani population.
