TLDR Fluid Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is more effective and faster at improving acne scars than Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), with similar mild side effects.
The study involved 30 patients with atrophic acne scars, divided into two groups of 15. Group I was treated with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), and Group II with fluid Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF). Both treatments, used alone or combined with needling, significantly improved acne scars. However, the fluid PRF group showed a significantly higher therapeutic response than the PRP group. The PRF group also showed more improvement in skin texture and laxity, and the improvement was noticed earlier than in the PRP group. Side effects were mild and similar in both groups. The study concluded that fluid PRF is a highly effective, safe, and simple procedure for treating acne scars and may be used instead of PRP.
