    Atrophic acne scars, also known as depressed or pitted acne scars, are indentations in the skin that occur when the skin does not produce enough collagen during the healing process after severe acne. These scars are characterized by their sunken appearance and can be classified into three main types: ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars, each with distinct shapes and depths.
