Systematic Review: The Platelet-Rich Plasma Use in Female Androgenetic Alopecia as Effective Autologous Treatment of Regenerative Plastic Surgery

    Pietro Gentile, Simone Garcovich
TLDR Platelet-rich plasma is a safe and effective treatment for female hair loss.
This systematic review evaluated the safety and efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for treating female androgenetic alopecia (F-AGA). Out of 63 initially identified articles, 5 focused exclusively on F-AGA, including 3 randomized-controlled trials, 1 clinical trial, and 1 double-blind placebo-controlled pilot study. The review found that PRP had positive effects on F-AGA without major side effects, suggesting it as a safe and effective alternative to traditional treatments like Minoxidil® and Finasteride®.
