TLDR PRP injections increase hair density and diameter in female androgenetic alopecia patients.
A study conducted on 10 female patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) found that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections led to an increase in hair density and diameter, particularly in the frontal area, after 12 and 24 weeks. The study also found that vellus hair number decreased while hair density and diameter increased. Clinical and dermoscopic improvements were observed, and no severe side effects were reported. The study suggests that PRP may be a promising therapy for androgenetic alopecia, but more research is needed to confirm its effectiveness.
