TLDR Combining laser therapy with other treatments effectively increases hair density and thickness for hair loss.
This network meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by analyzing 26 randomized controlled trials with 1,638 participants. The study found that combining botulinum injection with red laser (RL) and topical minoxidil (TM) was the most effective treatment for increasing hair density, while RL combined with light-emitting diode (LED) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection was most effective for increasing hair thickness. No severe side effects were reported, although adverse events were more frequent with RL and PRP injection. Overall, LLLT combined with other interventions shows significant efficacy and safety, offering a promising treatment option for AGA.
