TLDR Higher energy, longer exposure, and pulse irradiation improve hair density in androgenetic alopecia treatment.
This document is a systematic review of studies on the use of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and photobiomodulation therapy (PBM) for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The review found that increasing the energy fluence per session, longer duration of exposure to treatment, and switching from continuous to pulse irradiation were all significantly associated with an increase in hair density. However, the number of laser diodes and LEDs per se is not associated with change in hair density. The review suggests that LLLT and PBM may be promising treatment options for AGA, but further research is needed to optimize their use.
