TLDR Photobiomodulation helps hair growth safely in men and women, with laser devices working better than LED ones.
A meta-analysis of studies has found that photobiomodulation therapy is a safe and effective treatment option for androgenetic alopecia, increasing hair density and promoting hair growth in both male and female patients. Laser diode devices were found to be more effective than those with both laser diodes and LEDs, and both comb-style and hat/helmet-style devices produced comparable results. However, more high-quality studies are needed to fully evaluate its effectiveness and determine the best device and treatment parameters.
