TLDR The 1927-nm fractionated thulium laser treatment significantly improves hair thickness and count in pattern hair loss patients.
The study titled "Therapeutic efficacy and safety of a 1927-nm fractionated thulium laser on pattern hair loss: an evaluator-blinded, split-scalp study" conducted in 2018, evaluated the effectiveness and safety of a 1927-nm fractionated thulium laser on pattern hair loss (PHL). The study involved 10 PHL patients who underwent 12 sessions of fractionated thulium laser treatment with or without post-laser treatment application of a growth factor-containing (GF) solution. The results showed that the thulium laser treatment significantly increased hair density and thickness. The application of GF solution post-laser treatment further improved hair density and thickness. The study concluded that the use of a fractionated thulium laser with or without post-laser therapy application of GF solution to treat PHL resulted in significant improvements in hair thickness and hair counts.
