TLDR Trichoscopic measurements help determine the severity of female pattern hair loss.
This study at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute involved 90 women to analyze hair density and diameter variability in relation to the severity of female pattern hair loss (FPHL) using trichoscopy. Results showed a significant decrease in hair density and average hair shaft diameter as FPHL severity increased, particularly in the frontal scalp area. The study concluded that trichoscopic measurements are useful tools for determining the severity and progression of FPHL, despite limitations such as the lack of histopathological confirmation and absence of healthy controls.
