TLDR Combination therapy works best for female hair loss, increasing density and thickness.
A study compared the effectiveness of low-level light therapy (LLLT), 5% minoxidil, and combination therapy in treating female pattern hair loss (FPHL). Combination therapy was found to be the most effective in increasing hair density and hair thickness, followed by LLLT and 5% minoxidil. Both treatments were effective, but the combination therapy had a greater effect on hair density. LLLT was found to be effective in stimulating hair growth and reducing oil-secretion. The study involved 60 women and the treatments were applied for 24 weeks.
