TLDR Finasteride in lipid carriers improved hair growth in rats.
The study developed a nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) formulation using natural seed butter to deliver finasteride for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in rats. The formulation, particularly with the lowest polymer concentration (NLC-FNS07), demonstrated improved drug stability and skin permeation compared to conventional formulations. This NLC system showed high encapsulation efficiency and bioavailability without systemic absorption, indicating its potential as an effective topical treatment for AGA.
