TLDR LCN may improve finasteride delivery for hair loss treatment.
The study investigated the use of liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCN) for topical delivery of finasteride in the treatment of hair loss. FNS-loaded LCN was prepared and characterized for size, shape, in vitro release, and skin permeation-retention properties. The study found that LCN could be a potential nanocarrier for enhanced permeation and retention of FNS for topical delivery in hair loss. The addition of certain additives, such as glycerol and polyethylene glycol, increased the release of the drug. The study suggests that LCN could be a promising delivery system for finasteride for the treatment of hair loss.
