TLDR The new formulation with minoxidil, chitosan, and Aloe vera improves hair growth and reduces side effects.
The study explores a novel topical formulation for alopecia therapy by encapsulating minoxidil into niosomes and loading it into chitosan nanoparticles and Aloe vera, creating a nanocomposite (Cs@Alo/Nio-Mxd). This formulation aims to enhance minoxidil's permeation and reduce adverse effects. An in vivo study with 36 rats with induced alopecia, divided into six groups, demonstrated that the Cs@Alo/Nio-Mxd nanocomposite significantly improved hair growth indicators, such as skin thickness and hair follicle metrics, compared to other treatments. The results suggest that this nanocomposite could effectively target hair follicles and promote hair regrowth.
