TLDR Niosomes improve minoxidil skin delivery for hair loss treatment.
This study explores the use of niosomes, a type of vesicular carrier, to improve the skin delivery of minoxidil, a drug used to treat hair loss. The niosomes were prepared using different surfactants, cholesterol, and drug amounts, and were characterized for entrapment efficiency, particle size, zeta potential, and stability. Skin permeation studies were performed using hairless mouse skin, and the results showed that the niosomal formulations had a higher retention of minoxidil inside the vesicles and enhanced the percentage of dose accumulated in the skin compared to commercial and control formulations. The study suggests that niosomal formulations could be a promising approach for the topical delivery of minoxidil in hair loss treatment.

Minoxidil alone is not effective for hair regrowth; adding a DHT blocker like finasteride or dutasteride is recommended. Dermastamping and micro-needling can enhance results, and some users suggest trying oral minoxidil or natural DHT blockers.
