TLDR Optimized carriers effectively deliver Finasteride for hair loss treatment.
The study focused on optimizing nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) for enhancing the topical delivery of Finasteride (FIN) for treating androgenic alopecia. Using a Box-Behnken design, the NLCs were prepared with Compritol ATO-888 and Fenugreek oil, achieving a particle size of 379.8 nm, zeta potential of -37.1 mV, and an entrapment efficiency of 84%. The carriers showed a fast initial release followed by a prolonged release over 24 hours, following a Higuchi diffusion model. Stability tests over 4 weeks indicated that the NLCs maintained their properties, suggesting their potential effectiveness for follicular drug delivery.
