TLDR Ethosomes improve finasteride delivery through skin for hair loss treatment.
This study aimed to develop a transdermal drug delivery system for finasteride, a medication used to treat hair loss. The researchers found that ethosomes, a type of vesicular carrier, were more efficient delivery carriers with high encapsulation capacities and significantly increased the permeation of finasteride through human cadaver skin. Ethosomes also produced a significant finasteride accumulation in the skin, especially in deeper layers, making them promising vesicular carriers for enhancing percutaneous absorption of finasteride. The study suggests that ethosomal carriers could be a suitable transdermal drug delivery system for finasteride.
