TLDR Fucoidan may help regrow hair and reduce inflammation in hair loss.
This study demonstrates that fucoidan has a positive effect on androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by promoting hair growth in a mouse model. Fucoidan accelerates the transition of hair follicles into the anagen phase by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. It also reduces apoptosis in the microvasculature of hair follicles by enhancing VEGF secretion and decreasing microinflammatory infiltration. These findings suggest that fucoidan could be a promising therapeutic agent for AGA, offering a potential alternative to current treatments like finasteride and minoxidil, which have notable side effects.
