TLDR Mediterranean diet with fresh herbs and vegetables lowers male hair loss risk.
A study conducted in Rome, Italy in 2011-2012 found that a Mediterranean diet with fresh herbs and vegetables can decrease the risk of Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) in males. The study included 104 males with AGA and 108 controls not affected by AGA. Consuming raw vegetables and fresh herbs at least three times a week may lower the risk of AGA in males. The Mediterranean diet, which includes these foods, may have a protective effect against AGA due to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of phytochemicals present in plant foods. However, more research is required to confirm this finding.
