TLDR Overweight smokers have worse hair loss.

A study conducted in Italy found that being overweight and smoking can increase the severity of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The study included 351 participants and found that those with a BMI of 25 or more and who were current smokers had six times the risk of having moderate or severe AGA. The effect of high BMI and smoking on AGA severity remained even after controlling for other factors such as gender, age, education, dyslipidemia, dietary supplements, and wine consumption. The study suggests that maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding smoking may help reduce the severity of AGA.
