TLDR Hair loss links to high blood pressure, high fat levels, and metabolic issues, suggesting early heart disease screening.
This study investigated the relationship between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and cardiovascular risk factors in Koreans using the BASP classification system. The study found that AGA was significantly associated with hypertension, high triglyceride levels, and metabolic syndrome. The study suggests that AGA may be a useful marker for identifying individuals at risk for cardiovascular disease. The study recommends early screening for CVD, HTN, and DM, and the use of color Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries, laboratory, and anthropometric studies as early screening methods for CVD. Modifications in lifestyle and early screening for CVD, HTN, and DM are suggested.
