TLDR Pleuropterus multiflorus shows promise as a safe and effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia.
Pleuropterus multiflorus, traditionally used for hair loss and premature graying, is being explored for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA), which affects 21.3% of men and 6% of women in China. Current treatments like finasteride and minoxidil have limitations, prompting interest in Pleuropterus multiflorus due to its comprehensive therapeutic effects and favorable safety profile. This review compiles data on its active components, mechanisms, and applications, offering a foundation for further research and potential new drug development for AGA treatment.
