TLDR Finasteride and minoxidil work best together for hair loss.
This document is a compilation of reviews and studies on treatments for male pattern hair loss. The most effective options are hormonal treatments like finasteride and minoxidil, which can partially regrow hair and stop the progression of the disease. Non-pharmacologic treatments like platelet-rich plasma and micro-needling can also be considered. Combination therapy with both finasteride and minoxidil is recommended for best results. Other potential treatments include dutasteride, topical finasteride, low-level laser therapy, and bimatoprost-sensitive prostamide receptors, but more research is needed to confirm their effectiveness.

Some users have experienced hair thinning and loss after stopping finasteride, while others have had success with finasteride and minoxidil (min) in maintaining their transplanted hair. The general consensus is that finasteride is important for younger patients to prevent further hair loss.

A 20-year-old has been using finasteride for 2 years and switched from 5% to 10% minoxidil, causing issues. The doctor now prescribes 5% minoxidil twice daily, dutasteride on alternate days, and 3 PRP sessions for hair regrowth.
