The document is a case report from 2005 about the successful treatment of female androgenic alopecia with dutasteride. The case involved a 46-year-old woman who had not responded to minoxidil and had only limited improvement with finasteride. Due to her lack of improvement and the psychological distress caused by her hair loss, she was given dutasteride, another 5-reductase inhibitor. After 6 months of treatment, significant improvement was observed, and after 9 months, the diagnosis of androgenic alopecia could no longer be made. No side effects were reported. The report concluded that dutasteride could potentially be an effective alternative treatment for androgenic alopecia.
