TLDR Finasteride works better than Serenoa repens for male hair loss.
This study compared the effectiveness of finasteride and Serenoa repens in treating male androgenetic alopecia (AGA) over a two-year period. The results showed that both treatments were effective in the majority of patients, but finasteride was more effective in improving AGA in 66% of patients with initial classification of AGA in levels II and III. The study concluded that Serenoa repens could lead to an improvement of androgenetic alopecia, while finasteride confirmed its efficacy.
